Top talent is one of the most valuable but difficult to find. Top talents can bring a company to new heights and horizons. They can be recruited through social media platforms like LinkedIn and create awareness for a company that would otherwise not reach out to them. Keep on reading to find the best practices for recruiting top talent.
Top talents are a different generation than their counterparts and have different work habits, expectations and how they like to be contacted. To recruit top talent, companies must be aware of the differences in generations.
In a typical company, four generations coexist
Traditionalists or Baby Boomers, the older generation, have been in the workforce for many years and are loyal to their company. They are not technology savvy, like face-to-face communication and typically do not like to be bombarded with emails. Traditionalists are likely to respond better to a phone call than an email when they are interested in joining another company.
Generation X is the middle generation where people can be seen as either traditionalist or completely technology-based. Those who are technology-driven are likely to respond better to an email than a phone call, while those who are part of the older generation might prefer a phone call.
Millennials or Gen Y is the younger generation who have grown up surrounded by technology and electronics and are very used to communicating through emails, text messages and social media. They are not showing any signs of slowing down; they want to work anywhere and everywhere, and most of them will start working with a company as soon as they turn 18.
Companies that are not aware of their differences in generations will be unsuccessful when recruiting top talent. The top talent is more likely to consider a more technology-based company than the pure, old school approach. Gen Y has a different mindset than the older generations, so recruitment efforts should be adjusted accordingly.
The traditionalists are more likely to respond to someone they know. They also prefer a face-to-face meeting as opposed to receiving an email. The same goes for the younger generation, who would rather have a phone call or FaceTime session than receive an email.
Top talents need someone who can communicate with them on their level and not get lost in a sea of emails and texts. They prefer to have conversations through emails and texts as opposed to phone calls because they are busy and can't "unplug" like the older generations.
Recruiting efforts should also be made through social media platforms such as LinkedIn. Top talent looks to "build their own brand" on social media sites where they can find their next opportunity and employers. LinkedIn is not only a platform for finding employees, but it is also a great way for companies to build a strong presence in any industry.
Companies should create an open dialogue with their potential top talent. This is how companies can form a relationship, so when the time comes for the top talent to make a decision, he or she is not just going to pick up and leave. The key to forming this relationship is allowing the top talent to communicate with you through social media platforms like LinkedIn and professional interactions.
Hiring top talent can be a pain in the neck, but it is possible to get what you want with the least amount of headache if you make it easier for yourself. When getting ready to recruit new hires, remember these steps:
Employees are the most valuable asset for any company. They are a company's primary influencers and drivers of growth and success. Without them, a company would not exist. As such, companies must do whatever they can to reduce turnover and retain their employees to maintain high levels of productivity.
A number of organizations have implemented their own best practices to recruit and onboard their employees. Following are some of these practices:
Total Onboarding shows the new employees a clear path to success while reinforcing the new company culture through each step of their employment journey. It allows them to maximize their individual values and strengths and understand and connect with other team members.

The best way to retain employees is to hire correctly. Many companies do not make the best hiring decisions, which often leads to problems with employee retention. To reduce employee turnover, companies need to evaluate the company and the position being offered to determine whether it is the right fit for a specific candidate. By making smart hiring decisions, companies will be able to increase employee satisfaction and loyalty, resulting in reduced turnover and increased productivity.
Most employees think that the Human Resources Department is there to help them. However, many companies do not enforce their policies, resulting in mistrust and low employee satisfaction. Issues often cause employee turnover within a company that employees experience multiple times. The best way to avoid these issues is to enforce proper policies within the company so that they are followed whenever a new employee joins the team. Therefore, employers must avoid certain practices in order to retain their employees and lower employee turnover rates.
Training is a great way to retain employees and improve new employees' morale. Training programs are highly beneficial for new employees because they teach them the basics and how to be successful in a company. Additionally, instruction about the company's policies and procedures can also help new hires become productive workers. As such, it is essential for companies to make sure that they are providing their employees with proper training so that they know what is expected of them.
Many employees tend to become frustrated when they believe that they are underpaid or not respected. It can often lead to an employee's departure from a company. Therefore, it is important for companies to appreciate their employees to avoid issues when employees leave the company. To increase employee satisfaction, companies should ensure that they are providing their employees with all of the resources and tools they need to do their job well. Companies can achieve this by providing their staff with the tools they need to be successful and by ensuring that employees receive the training they need.
Many companies do not have proper systems for employee feedback, which is often a contributing factor in employee turnover. Employees are more likely to leave a company if they have a hard time discussing issues or concerns with their superiors. Therefore, it is essential for companies to make sure that they have systems that allow employees to discuss any concerns they may have. By providing feedback and addressing issues as they arise, companies are able to fix any problems that employees may have before they decide to leave the company.
It is important for companies to celebrate the achievements of their employees in order to keep them happy and motivated. By celebrating employee achievements, employees will build a sense of pride when working for the company. Therefore, companies need to make sure that they are taking time to celebrate their employees' accomplishments so that employees will feel valued and appreciated by the company.
Many employees want to grow and succeed within their company. However, most companies do not have proper career development systems for their employees. As a result, employees are likely to leave the company in order to find a better opportunity that will enable them to build a successful career. Therefore, it is important for companies to make sure that they are providing employees with opportunities for growth and advancement. By offering employees the ability to grow in their position, companies are able to retain their employees and prevent many of the issues that can arise when employees leave a company.
Many policies that companies have in place for their employees are not implemented properly, which often leads to problems within the company and low levels of employee satisfaction. Therefore, it is essential for companies to evaluate the policies they have in place and ensure that they are being enforced properly. By ensuring that policies are followed and that employees are aware of them, companies will be able to increase employee satisfaction and reduce turnover.
In today's world, it is becoming increasingly important for employers to provide their employees with valuable perks in order to retain staff. With more and more companies entering the job market each year and more jobs being outsourced, employees are finding it harder to find a job that meets their expectations. As such, employees are often willing to stay with a company if they are receiving valuable benefits and perks. Therefore, it is essential for companies to make sure that they provide their employees with desirable perks to retain them and prevent unnecessary turnover.
Stress is one of the main contributing factors to employee dissatisfaction and turnover, so employers should prevent issues before they arise. Employees are likely to leave a company if they feel that they cannot handle the stress involved in their job. Therefore, companies need to make sure that they have systems in place that reduce stress, by reducing the amount of stress that their employees experience, companies can keep them happy and satisfied and reduce turnover rates.
