If you want to make money, there are a few principles you need to follow. Niche Down and then Niche Down Again! If you can't provide value and be helpful, no one will pay for what you offer. But the second is that if someone does find your business valuable, they won't need anything else from anyone else; instead of spreading yourself thin by catering to every niche possible, niche down and eventually niche down again.
Niche down is understanding the market's weakness and then doing whatever it takes to provide value. You need to avoid the temptation to add unnecessary features just for price tag inflation. Most anyone can build a website that does everything and does it well. But you need to know why someone should buy from you, what will make them tired of trying everyone else? That's where niche down comes in.
You can start by finding out what makes your customers tick with customer surveys and interviews. Find out what they are looking for, how much they are willing to spend, and why they are willing to pay. Then decide where you want your website and your business to be best positioned. Find out where you are most vital. Then, think about how you can make a website that can provide value to your customers regardless of what niche they fall into. Once you have found the place, work hard and ensure that no one else can compete with you in that niche. That'll leave you at the top of the heap.
After a little while, though, it's probably time to start thinking about what else is best for your business and your customers. Maybe there is an additional niche out there waiting to be filled. Or perhaps it might be good to expand offerings such as consulting or training. But every business needs growth, or at least it does if it wants long-term success. And change means finding new things to sell and new people who need what you have.
Niche down because it's the best way to provide value to your customers. And provide value and making money at the same time is a formula for success. Niche down again because it'll enable you to grow your business, give you more room for expansion, and provide a way for you to reach new customers that might not be caught up in your first niche. It also means a more extensive customer base, which could mean more opportunities for sales and more resources available in the initial market that niche down took advantage of.
1. Narrow down your niche by finding the weak points of the market and then making a website that provides value.
2. Keep improving and adding value to your products or services until you have reached that niche's top of the heap.
3. Then, start expanding your business with new offerings.
4. Once you are successful, start looking at other niches and new markets to try to earn from, but only after doing well in your original niche for a long time! It is easy for me to say, as I have been doing this for a long time now, but many people still fail because they think they can jump into other niches and make money right away.
5. A common mistake is thinking that another niche will be the same for you because you have already found your niche and are successful in it. It is not always the case often; times, you can do well in a niche with only one or two products, but once you start trying to branch out, you need to find a new way to be as valuable as possible.
6. Niche down for your first business and then find a new niche that might be made for you. It is easy to decide on a niche when starting, but it is harder to know when you can move out into new markets.
7. A good business model allows you to find a new marketplace where there is not much competition; then, before anyone else figures it out, you own that market and make the possible money from it. Once everyone starts following you, try to find another one until your business grows. This way, the business will grow organically without constantly changing directions or changing the focus of your content and products or services to follow trends!
8. Sometimes, business models come together to do great business. You can find the right niche, build an excellent product made for that niche, and then offer it at the right price. Finally, it is time to make money from Customers of that niche!
9. Niche down again to grow your business into something long-term viable and sustainable. You will reach a level where you can constantly expand your business without having to make significant changes unless there is a drastic change in the market.
10. Niche down again because you want to provide value and make money simultaneously!
11. Niche down because no one else in your market can compete with you!!
12. The goal is to learn how to make money and get others to pay for your services, so the next step is to niche down even more and try different things until you find something that works best.
13. Niche down because it will help you be successful with marketing and monetization and communicate with your customers.
If you're trying to make a living in the content world, you must know your niche. If you haven't already determined what yours is, our handy guide will help you through the process. Here are five top tips on how to find your niche and optimize for success:
There are thousands of content niches, and it can be pretty overwhelming to try to sort through them all. Why is that? Because you must ask yourself, "What is my purpose?" For example, if you're an Australian gynecologist specializing in andrology (male reproductive system), you would define your niche as "Healthcare professionals." This sub-niche also encompasses other fields like general practitioners, fertility specialists, etc.
Your niche can be as broad as you like since you have the liberty of defining it as "Healthcare professionals" or a more narrow sub-niche like andrology, according to your purpose.
If you cannot find a profitable niche, there's nothing wrong with that. We understand that no one is looking to make a killing on this stuff. It's all in good fun. But, if you want to do a sustainable business out of your blog or even be able to pay your rent with it every month, you need to find a niche that has the potential to net you an income.
If this is all new to you, the last thing you want is your content to come off as cheesy and weird and just downright unappealing. So don't force yourself into a niche that doesn't reflect your personality. Work within your wheelhouse, and you'll find it much easier to come up with content. It will also be more authentic because you'll be writing from the heart.
If you're not sure where to start in defining your niche, check out forums related to your area of expertise. For example, if you're an online marketing consultant for early-stage startups and want to define a niche for yourself, the Startup Forums at BizSugar would be the place to start. Their forums are the perfect places to get a feel for what the community is interested in. Once you've started digging, you can expand to niche sites that cater specifically to your topic.
Once you've got a handle on your focus, decide whether or not you're going to target an existing audience and an entirely new one. If so, don't make this a priority. Instead, look for niche sites that have already established a community of consumers and network with them. This way, you can foster relationships with your target audience and establish yourself as an expert.
Once you know the ins and outs of your specific content niche, it's time to figure out how to optimize for success.
Think about your audience's interest before you start blogging about your niche. You might have to do some research on primary and secondary niches if you're into that sort of thing. Look for questions on forums and see if you can answer them or create content that speaks to their needs.
Are you just getting started? Don't worry: There are tons of opportunities for those who want them. You can post your work and socialize it on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn. It will allow you to get in front of your audience and see if they're interested in what you offer.
Once you've determined the niche, it's time to find the right words to describe what you have to offer. Please stay away from too broad keywords because doing so makes it harder for people to find your content (and, more importantly, your site). Many keywords, like "health," are just too vague to be helpful for your business.
Write how you would talk to a friend, and make it conversational. Your readers will appreciate the authenticity, and chances are, if you're naturally talking to them, they'll respond in kind (i.e., by clicking on links). Don't be afraid to let your personality shine through, either – people love writers they can relate to! So take a chance and see what happens.
Just as you would if you were trying to sell a product on Amazon, optimize your website with keywords, images, and videos to make sure it's easy for people to find in the search engines. You'll be surprised at how many of your visitors take that path instead of searching.
Once people find your site and start reading, you want to make it as easy as possible for them to book an appointment with you. You can offer free samples, for example, that people can try before they make the jump. Remember: People don't pay for anything until they have tried it out first!
If you want to build an authority site, you need to build it out slowly. Start with a website with your keywords in the title, title tags, and meta descriptions. Then focus on increasing your domain authority within that niche. You can do this by linking to other people's sites, promoting content they've published on their pages, and even buying links.
You can probably get started with a free blog platform like Blogger or WordPress. But if you want to start building a membership site or an authority site, you will need to get hosting. Several "premium" options, including WordPress.com, Bluehost, and SiteGround, can be both affordable and reliable.
Most of the time, you can't just build authority sites. You have to get links from other relevant areas to pass over your authority. The best way to do this is by networking with other people, connecting with them on social media, and writing content that they're proud to link back to. The other option is hiring someone who has already built authority in the space to help you out.
Even if you start with a free blog for your trial, you can turn it into an e-commerce website. Start with a free trial of one of the membership sites provided above and then offer some special deals to email subscribers while they're on it. You can even offer people a chance to get their name out there as potential experts in your field by publishing articles that you know they'll want to pass along to their friends.
